As an allied health assistant, you'll work alongside healthcare professionals to help deliver therapy programs, set up treatment sessions and guide patients through their exercises. It's a role where every day brings something different, and you're making a real difference in people's lives.
Our courses prepare you for a variety of specialist roles in allied health:
Physiotherapy Assistant: Help patients with their recovery journey through exercise programs and mobility training, whether they're dealing with sports injuries or recovering from surgery.
Occupational Therapy Assistant: Support people to handle daily activities like cooking, personal care and work tasks, helping them live more independently.
Nutrition and Dietetics Assistant: Support patients with their dietary needs and help them understand healthy eating plans.
Plus, many of our graduates go on to study bachelor's degrees in occupational therapy or physiotherapy. It's all about finding the specialty that excites you most!
Patient care happens in multiple stages. Nurses handle the medical side – medications, procedures and monitoring. As an allied health assistant, you'll focus on a different but just as important part of healthcare: helping people regain their independence and quality of life. You might support someone after a stroke or work with a physio to help improve a patient’s balance and strength.
You'll get to spend time with each patient, really getting to know them and helping them achieve their recovery goals. Plus, you'll work closely with various specialists – from physiotherapists to occupational therapists – giving you exposure to different areas of healthcare.
It depends on your chosen qualification pathway. Here's a breakdown of your options:
A Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance takes up to 12 months. You'll complete 11 course units and gain real experience with 120 hours of work placement.Finish one unit every 4 weeks to graduate on time.
Want more career opportunities? Our Certificate III and IV in Allied Health Assistance takes up to 24 months. This program includes 18 course units and 240 hours of hands-on placement split between both qualifications.
Looking to specialise? Choose our Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance with either a Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Focus or Nutrition and Dietetic Support. These take up to 18 months, with 17 course units and 120 hours of placement in your chosen specialty.
